Las Vegas, Nevada - January 29, 2025 – The Carroll Shelby Foundation™ (CSF) partnered with the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and the CSN Foundation to provide $37,500 in scholarships for the Automotive and Diesel Technology Programs in spring of 2023 for the 2022-2023 academic year. Today, the CSF continues to make an immediate impact for CSN students in the Automotive and Diesel Technology Programs, by providing ten $2,500 scholarships annually, $1,250 during the Fall and Spring semesters, for a total of $25,000 annually for each academic year.
CSF was created in 1992 as retired racing driver and automaker Carroll Shelby waited for a heart transplant. The charity provides medical assistance for those in need, including children, as well as educational opportunities for young people through automotive and other training programs.
“My grandfather, Carroll Shelby, established the Foundation 30 years ago to help kids win the race for life,” said Aaron Shelby, co-President of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “He later expanded its mission to teach kids life-changing skills so they can succeed in the auto industry.”
“Like many states across the nation, there continues to be a shortage of qualified auto technicians in Southern Nevada. CSN is honored to be partnering with the Caroll Shelby Foundation to help increase the pipeline of skilled and certified technicians through our Automotive and Diesel Technology programs,” said Dr. James McCoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs at CSN. “As technology for new cars continues to advance, the need for new, highly skilled automotive technicians continues to grow. We are grateful to the Caroll Shelby Foundation for their generosity and collaboration.”
“It's scholarships such as the Carroll Shelby Foundation Scholarship that truly change the trajectory of a student's life and provide an opportunity to enter a profession as a highly skilled and respected technician,” said Danita Simons, Executive Director of the CSN Foundation. “We are honored to partner with the Carroll Shelby Foundation and look forward to celebrating the success of our students, together.”
